The Connection Between eCommerce, Mobile Commerce and AI

In the eCommerce scene, we’re hearing a lot about mobile commerce and AI these days, but is there a connection between them? Absolutely! We’ve previously written about how eCommerce is slowly transitioning to mobile commerce, as well as the opportunities that come from it.

AI offers the most efficient way for brands to use technology to put the right products in front of the right customers. Online retailers and publishers are beginning to use AI technology to create a more personalized experience for their users, by presenting them with relevant products when they visit the website via desktop or mobile, or when they use an app. AI allows countless variations can be made on homepages, email campaigns, off-site advertising, and even on-site search results. The technology feeds off of customer data, such as browsing patterns, shopping history, and location. AI learns from customer data, and uses it to recommend products that match their natural preferences.

Mobile is playing a significant role in the increase of AI adoption for online retailers, mainly for the sake of improving the customer experience. We’re mainly seeing it in the form of price optimization tools, virtual customer service assistance, and even personal shoppers in the form of chatbots. As Internet-connected smart devices continue to make their mark in the world of eCommerce, it is up to online retailers (and publishers) to adopt AI in the near future, if they haven’t already. That is because personalization is quickly moving from being a feature that cool to have, to one that is essential to stay current and ahead of the game.
